Today, Lekan was named a candidate to watch by Toronto weekly magazine The Grid:
Among the many council hopefuls challenging long-serving incumbents, Lekan Olawoye in Ward 12 (York South-Weston) has a particularly impressive résumé: chair of the Premier’s Council on Youth Opportunities, executive director of the For Youth Initiative, and board member for Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants.
Olawoye hasn’t released a platform yet. But he claims his campaign team has spoken to almost 3,000 people since he declared his candidacy in January, and that he’ll spend one or two more months door-knocking before rolling out any policy proposals.
“A theme that we’ve heard all across [the ward] is neglect,” Olawoye said. “Neglect looks like the buildings are crumbling, the BIA is not doing well, the bus stops are in the wrong places, there’s potholes everywhere.”
