As a father, not-for-profit executive, and advisor to the Premier of Ontario, Lekan Olawoye believes in the power of community.

At age eight, Lekan moved from Nigeria to Toronto with his mother and siblings in search of greater opportunities. Through years of hard work, Lekan established himself as a leader within the City of Toronto and with his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work, Lekan dedicated his career to helping others.

In his five years as Executive Director of For Youth Initiative (FYI), Lekan has developed the small United Way agency into an impactful organization that delivers $1 million in programming to 1,000 young people in Toronto each year.

Lekan serves Toronto as a board member for the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) and was the first-ever Chair of the Premier's Council on Youth Opportunities. Under his leadership, the Premier's Council designed a $5 million youth opportunities fund and advised on a $295 million youth job strategy fund.
